Sherman

The Sherman Preserve was donated to the Mattapoisett Land Trust by Carole Clifford on behalf of the Gladys Ellis Trust in 2019. It is 5.29 acres of land on Long Plain Road. The roadside area of the property is maintained by MLT as a small meadow. The parcel of land is intersected in the middle by a utility easement for overhead power lines where the vegetation below is mowed and treated with herbicides by Eversource to maintain their way of access. The back of the property is left as forest.

The preserve can be accessed by the frontage on Long Plain Road, just before Beech Wood Road. The preserve is distinguished by a stone wall. There are not any features or trails maintained here.
