MLT Educator Grant Application
The mission of the MLT Education Committee is to enhance students’ environmental awareness
and encourage stewardship through field trips, scientific exploration, and environmental
research. Through Educator Grant funding, we aim to provide support to programs reaching
Mattapoisett school children of all ages in support of our mission. Priority will be given to
projects that maximize their student impact and environmental benefit.
Timelines for 2025-2026 Educator Grant Applications:
Fall 2025 Applications will be accepted September 1 – October 1, 2025
Fall Award notifications will be issued by October 15, 2025
Spring 2026 Applications will be accepted January 1 – February 1, 2026
Spring Award notifications will be issued by February 13, 2026
Please note that Fall 2025 project funding has to be spent by December 31, 2025 with project
completion by the end of the 2025-2026 school year. Spring 2026 funding must be spent and
the project completed by the end of the 2025-2026 school year.
As a condition of this funding grant, the MLT Education Committee requires all awardees to
publicize the project by creating a short (1 page) flyer at the completion of the project that your
principal or administrator can post on your School’s social media page or newsletter. This flyer
must also be submitted to the MLT Education Committee for publication on MLT’s social
media. An example of this flyer will be provided with award letters. ALL shared materials for
this project (flyers, permission slips, articles, etc.) must include the Mattapoisett Land Trust and
Massachusetts Cultural Council logos (included with award letter and available on our website).
Any written material should include acknowledgement that this project was funded by the
Mattapoisett Land Trust and Massachusetts Cultural Council.
Please note that ORR School District regulations require that all funding grant applications be
approved by a principal and/or department administrator before being submitted.
Additionally, after a grant is awarded, the funding must then be approved by the School
Committee before you may access these funds. This process may take up to 45 days.
Educator Grant application requirements include:
● general educational purpose and goals of the project
● learning activities provided by the project
● how the project meets the mission of the MLT Education Committee
● number of students impacted by the project
● a detailed budget
The MLT Education Committee reserves the right to attend/observe any MLT-funded
activity. Upon completion of the project, Awardees must also reflect on the success of the
project, provide a final budget, and submit their 1-page project flyer through the google
form provided with the Grant Award notification.
Individual applicant awards up to $500
Collaborative, cross-curriculum projects for entire grade awards up to $2000

Blanche B. Perry Scholarship
MLT Blanche B. Perry Scholarship
The Mattapoisett Land Trust is seeking applicants for its $1000-dollar Blanche B. Perry Scholarship. This award is available to a Mattapoisett resident graduating from Old Rochester Regional High School, Bishop Stang High School, Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School, or Tabor Academy in the spring of 2026, and pursuing education in the sciences and/or environmental studies or a related field.
The mission of the Mattapoisett Land Trust is to acquire and preserve natural resources and wildlife areas for the use an enjoyment of present and future generations; to educate the public about the wise use of natural resources; and to work with other organizations having similar purposes.
The scholarship is made available through the Edith Glick Shoolman Fund, a bequest left to provide support for children in the community.

Along with the application form, the following is required:
- A personal statement about career goals as they relate to the mission of the MLT and plans to pursue education in the sciences, environmental studies, or a related field.
- Signed Community Service Forms documenting a minimum of 20 hours of community service.
- A professional letter of reference from a teacher or guidance counselor.
- A letter of character reference from an employer, activity leader, or community member.
- An official school transcript including credits and class rank.
Applicants will be assessed according to academic achievement, personal statement, references, community service, and financial need. Preference will be given to individuals who are, or whose parents or grandparents are, members of the Mattapoisett Land Trust.
The actual award will be disbursed after the student submits an official college transcript documenting a successful completion of the first semester in college to:

Priscilla Hathaway Art Scholarship
The MLT Priscilla Hathaway Art Scholarship
The Mattapoisett Land Trust is seeking applicants for its $1000-dollar Priscilla Hathaway Art Scholarship. Priscilla was a professional artist, teacher, and environmentalist, as well as co-founder of the Mattapoisett Land Trust. She was a sailor and helped “save the seas” as a bay watcher with the Buzzards Bay Coalition. She was very interested in Native American artifacts. Priscilla loved the outdoors, especially the woods, beaches, and sand.
This award is available to a Mattapoisett, Marion, or Rochester resident graduating from High School in the spring of 2026, who is committed to keeping the core values that Priscilla Hathaway exemplified, is studying art, and plans to continue education in fine arts. The scholarship is made available through the generosity of Brad Hathaway and his family.

The deadline for submitting the complete application and accompanying materials is April 17, 2026. The recipient will be notified by mail by May 15, 2026.
Along with the application form, the following is required:
- A piece of visual art, such as a drawing, painting, or art installation, either 2D or 3D. No video or animation will be accepted. Art should be photographed and sent digitally with the application.
- A personal artist statement about how the applicant’s art piece connects the viewer to the natural world, and how the applicant connects with Priscilla Hathaway’s core values.
- A professional letter of reference from a teacher or guidance counselor.
- A character letter of reference from an employer, activity leader, or community member.
- An official school transcript including credits and class rank.
The actual award will be disbursed after the student submits to the MLT an official college transcript documenting a successful completion of the first semester in college.
