Field Farm Conservation Restriction (CR)

The Field Farm Conservation Restriction protects 64 acres of woods, wetlands and salt marsh on the west side of Mattapoisett Neck from future development. The land remains in private ownership, and there is no public access to the property.

Conservation values protected include scenic resources, water quality, wildlife habitat, soil resources, and furtherance of the Town of Mattapoisett’s Open Space Plan. This CR benefits the public by keeping the property predominantly in its natural, scenic and open condition and available for agriculture, farming and/or forestry.  The CR is held and managed jointly by the Buzzards Bay Coalition and the Mattapoisett Land Trust.

The Field family has owned this property for well over 100 years.  We honor them for their past, present and future stewardship of this beautiful parcel of land.  There is a small granite marker dedicated to the Field Family on the west side of Mattapoisett Neck Road just south of Molly’s Cove.
