SUMMARY:Annual Vernal Pool Walk
DESCRIPTION:Vernal pools are a vital breeding habitat for resident amphibians and invertebrates such as wood frogs\, spotted and blue-spotted salamanders\, and fairy shrimp. The MLT is once again offering an introduction to vernal pools through a field trip into the Tinkhamtown Woodlands on MLT’s Woodcock Preserve. \nOn Saturday\, April 15\, at 1:00 p.m.\, we’ll meet at the Tinkhamtown Woodlands parking area on Long Plain Road. We´ll proceed a short distance on the trail to the vernal pool. Together we will have fun learning about vernal pools and exploring a particularly productive one. \nThe exploration is free and open to all\, including residents of other towns. Rubber boots or hiking shoes are recommended.

DESCRIPTION:Join the Mattapoisett Land Trust for a walk\, and bring your four-legged friends! We’ve hosted some walks for our human supporters before\, but now we want to include our canine supporters too. On Friday\, March 10th\, we will meet at 4pm the MLT kiosk on Anchorage Way and walk the Brandt Island Cove loop trail\, about 1.5 miles altogether. \nMLT has plenty of trails around town that are great for long walks out in the woods with your dogs that we’d love to share with you. We’ll tell you about some of our favorites while we walk. \nDogs must be leashed\, under voice control and picked up after.

Come join us for a hike followed by hot chocolate and a campfire!  \nWe’re offering a morning of hiking and hot chocolate from 10:00 – 11:30am on Monday Feb. 20th. Bring the family and meet us at the Holmes Foundation parking lot on Angelica Ave. We’ll take a walk on the trail (about a mile) and return to where we started for a toasty campfire and some hot chocolate. Please dress for the weather. Rubber boots or snow boots recommended. This is free and open to all. \nIf there is inclement weather on Monday Feb. 20th\, the rain date for this event will be Wednesday Feb. 22nd. same time and place.

Mattapoisett Land Trust invites you to come learn how it’s down at our Stone Wall Workshop! \nMeet us at the Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. Foundation parking area on Angelica Ave. in Mattapoisett on Sunday November 13th. The workshop will run from 10-11am. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring gloves; this will be hands-on. The workshop will be led by MLT’s Vice President of the Board\, Peter Davies\, who has been building and repairing stone walls for 40 years for friends and clients. \n
